Report: TI to Cut at Least 2,000 Jobs

Texas Instruments Inc. plans to announce that at least 2,000 workers will be laid off in response to falling demand for its semiconductor products in a slowing economy, The Wall Street Journal reported today. The layoffs may be a sign that the chip maker's troubles have gotten even worse since it warned seven weeks ago that sales would tumble 20 percent, from $3.03 billion in the fourth quarter to $2.4 billion in the first quarter. USAA cutting 265 real estate jobs

San Antonio-based USAA said Thursday it will be eliminating about 265 jobs at its bank in mid-November. The job cuts will impact employees in its bank’s real estate lending operations and its “Real Estate Rewards Network,” which supports USAA members during the homebuying and selling process. Amazon makes rare round of layoffs at Seattle headquarters

SAN FRANCISCO — Amazon laid off workers at its corporate campuses Monday, a rare event at one of the nation’s largest corporate employers, sources at the company said. The job eliminations are mostly concentrated in Amazon’s consumer retail business and involve several hundred employees in its Seattle offices along with hundreds of others elsewhere, a source within the company who was not authorized to speak publicly told USA TODAY.
